We go into many homes every day where they are having trouble keeping up with all of the soiling, spilling, and wear that is going on. There are a couple of things that you can do to help extend the life of your carpet. They consist of the following:
1. Make sure after your carpet cleaning process to have us put down a carpet protector. To learn more of what this does click HERE!
2. You will want to lay down a large area carpet that covers at least the couch/coffee table area. This is where most of the time is spent, and most of the food/drink will be spilled. Make sure to always vacuum under the edges of the area carpet to avoid contrast in soiling.
3. Vacuum at least once a week if not more. This is the number one life extender for your carpeting.
4. This will vary with family size, but try to rotate the room around to adapt walking lanes at least every 6 months or less. This should reduce fiber wear, and shortening.
5. Always get your carpets professionally cleaned at least once per year or more depending on the severity of your situation.
6. Try to have your kids drink neutral color drinks meaning no reds blues yellows etc. Ideally white grape juice, water, sprite(you get the idea). The stronger color drink dyes can be near impossible to remove.
