One of the most durable carpet materials out there is wool. This is what many of your area carpets are made of as well as some carpeting throughout the house. Over the years nylon has become the carpet of choice because of price but it has no where near the durability of wool. An interesting fact about wool carpeting is its made of a protein called keratin that is derived from sheep’s fur.
If you did some research on this Keratin is also used in layers to create your fingernails.
