Everybody has their own morning ritual. As many of us know ours includes a cup or two(or five) of coffee to get the day rolling. Many people also have their favorite spot to watch the news or read the newspaper with their coffee every morning. Coffee stains can be very hard to get out of carpets depending on a couple factors.
Number one how long has the coffee been sitting on the carpet? Coffee doesn’t just soil your carpet if left there long enough it can actually take the color of your carpet fibers and die them brown. (Hence why dentist tell you not to drink coffee due to teeth staining. Well it does the same thing to your carpet) Factor number two is how much coffee was spilled?
As mentioned in another one of our blogs if enough coffee spilled to soak through the backing of your carpet you may end up dealing with a process known as wicking. This is when a stain penetrates through the backing of the carpet into the padding and rises back through the regular carpeting days after your carpet cleaning with us. click on the link if you want to read more on that.
The third factor that comes into play is how hot was the actual coffee when it was spilled. If the coffee was hot enough it can have the same effect as a candle being spilled on the carpet. The fibers will actually melt and mend together creating a feeling as if they had been glued in a bunch. This melting and mending process actually shortens the length of your fibers and can be noticeable. We do have a product we can use on coffee stains but its not guaranteed to work. We can only do the the best we can do! Coffee is our best friend in the morning but it’s safest to drink where you have no carpeting!
