Every once in a while we will get in a home and the owner will have a big ball of drapes on their floor with all of the hanging pins in a bag and ready to send them with us. This is a pain in the butt, and can cause a disaster for us. When we get into a home there are many things we want to look at with your draperies including:
-sun exposure and color loss
-parallel top
-If the rod is properly working
-How brittle your bucrin is at the top
-If any of the eyelets are broken
-If the drapes close fully
-If the hem is holding strong or in risk of falling out during cleaning.
-Any other stains, marks, rips, etc.
We like to be able to give you an idea of what we think the cleaning capability of the piece will be, and point out any and all problems before taking them so you know we didn’t cause any of it. Also we don’t take the pins out of the drapes until we complete the first step of our cleaning process so we can mark where they go so the drapes will hang at the same height when returned. Also if you leave your drapes in a pile on the ground instead of nicely folded the wrinkles can be extremely hard to get out due to the fact that some of these materials are very sensitive to high heat.
