Do I need to use the arm and head covers on my couch, chair, and loveseat?

We all know the covers on these pieces slide, fall off, and can be extremely annoying. In saying that they also are extremely important to the life of your piece of furniture especially if it is made of weak fabric that doesn’t wear well.  I always keep the covers on my furniture for the following reasons:

  • They protect the head rest from oils in your hair, as well as other gels and sprays you may add.
  • They protect the arm rests from the grease and oils in your hands.
  • They protect the head and arm rests from the development of wear patterns due to loss of fiber nap.
  • They are machine washable where as your actual piece of furniture is not.
  • If your piece is made of micro fiber they are essential to making your piece last as these pieces wear out the fastest, and also show grease extremely easily.

These are only a couple of reasons why I use these all the time.  They may be a pain, but come up with your own way to fasten them down(that won’t damage the underlying fibers).  That way they are getting the job done without having to be adjusted every time you sit down.

-When washing the arm covers make sure to do them with cold water-delicate cycle-drop of detergent-HANG TO DRY!  Make sure you don’t throw them in the dryer as they will shrink!
