What paints are the safest for your carpet?

One thing you as a customer need to understand is there are many different kinds of paints out there.  As all of you know they are trying to make paint adhere, and last longer then older paints.  This means not only does it have a stronger bond to wall materials, but also will do the same to the carpet fibers. Water based paints will be easier to work with then other forms.

There are some things that have worked on spot cleaning paint from your carpet, and this is our favorite home remedy, but understand different carpets will react in different ways so always approach all of this very delicately.   Grab a roll of paper towels, and a bottle of nail polish remover.  Make sure you change your paper towels frequently as well so so you can try to prevent spreading the stain.  Also if there is a huge puddle of paint you need to be careful that you don’t spread it as well.

After you have gotten as much paint out as you possibly can you are going to want to take a little bit of dawn dish soap, warm water, and a spray bottle and shake up a bottle off homemade cleaner.  Spray the spot with this mixture a few times, and take a brush with soft bristles and scrub until bubbles appear.  Once you see this try to blot it dry.  You will have to repeat this process multiple times.  After doing this for a little while I would suggest taking 10 clean paper towels and folding them into a thick square.  Next you will want to spray the spot a couple more times, and then put this folded mass of paper towels right on top of the spot.  On top of this you will want to find something very heavy and flat to put on top of this spot.  I would replace the paper towels every hour, and possibly reapply the spray as well each time.  What you are trying to do with this process is wick the color from the fibers into your paper towels.

Unfortunately once again certain color paints have such a strong dye in them that there may not be much we can do at all, but these are the steps we would take, and if you really want our eyes on it give us a call!
