There are many different good an bad things about Berber carpeting. The first good thing about it is it is relatively cheap and pretty easy to install. This is always a plus. Next Berber carpeting is very strong, and does have potential to last a long time if kept clean. Many apartment complex’s we clean have Berber because it looks good and is heavy duty.
There is a myth out there that Berber carpeting doesn’t clean well and this is a myth. What really should be said is Berber carpeting cleans just as good as any other carpet as long as there is soiling and not wear. Obviously we can’t replace fiber if fiber is lost.
Another good thing about Berber carpeting is it comes in many different colors, and some dotted patterns that’s do really well in hiding soiling and stains! Don’t let this be an excuse to let your carpets go uncleaned however or you will regret it down the road. Some bad things about Berber carpeting is like I stated before most people don’t realize that the carpet is dirty because it does such a good job of hiding it and by the time they call us to clean it it is really already worn.
Another con with having Berber carpeting is sometimes you get little loops to pull up out of the carpet and you will want to cut these with some scissors because they can get caught in your vacuum cleaner, and cause a pull to form across the carpet. These really are the only bad things about it. Manufactures state that you should have your carpeting cleaned every year and if this is done you should get 5 years longer life span out of your carpeting!
