Take spring cleaning up a notch.

It’s always nice when the weather allows us to throw open the windows and let a gentle breeze waft through the house (seasonal allergies aside). Spring is a time of renewal, of getting rid of the old and embracing the new. It’s also a great time to give your home’s interior an upgrade.

From a simple swap of a light fixture to replacing your floors with a trendy tile, check out these ways to refresh the inside of your house.

Try a new paint color or wall covering

Paint is a tried-and-true way to revitalize any room. It can brighten up a space or take the mood a shade darker. It’s one of the easiest and least expensive ways to transform your home’s interior.

“Try decorative painting or finishes, stenciling, which can be an organic element,” says Chantal Devane, owner of Devane Design in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. “There’s also different muds you can use, but it is a commitment because it will alter the texture of your walls.”

Another avenue to consider is using wallpaper, perhaps as an accent wall or to change up all four. And don’t worry; wallpaper has come a long way since the 1970s. Today’s styles consist of a wide variety of designs, from bold, geometric designs and colors to something more simple and subtle. The options are endless.

Swap out old light fixtures

Lighting is everything, and it can really make a dramatic difference in your home. From strategic spot lighting or can lights to a statement chandelier or lamp, the light fixtures in your house help set the tone.

The nice thing about using lights to freshen up your space is they’re budget-friendly. You can invest in a $10,000 lighting scheme for your entire house and landscaping, or simply buy a funky $50 lamp to display in the living room. The other option is to just buy new lampshades, which is cheaper still. The more light in a room, the brighter the space, and the fresher it will feel.

Freshen up the flooring

Ceramic tile that looks like wood is all the rage when it comes to flooring. Homeowners appreciate the tile’s durability while loving the aesthetic beauty of hardwood. That said, there’s nothing like the warmth of true hardwood floors to revitalize a space. “The use of hardwood flooring within an entire home, including the kitchen, has been a very popular trend,” says Orel Grinfeld, co-founder of Chi Renovation & Design in Skokie, Illinois.

If completely replacing your flooring isn’t on your to-do list, consider new throw rugs to accent a space or larger area rugs to help anchor a room. The pricing and quality of rugs varies widely, so you should have plenty from which to choose.

So remember to contact us today to schedule your carpet, upholstery, tile, wood or drapery cleaning so that you can get a good deep clean on the things that you aren’t ready to replace but need to freshen up!  This article was shared from Angie’s List in it’s entirety.
