Spring can be a scary season for those with basements when the rain starts falling hard. For those with finished basements, you could be spending a lot of money replacing or restoring items after flooding.
What To Do When Your Carpets Flood
Unfortunately, accidents happen and our carpets can flood sometimes. If you’ve ever had to deal with this mess, you know how annoying the cleanup process can be, but don’t worry anymore, J and R’s Carpet Cleaning is here to help you.
Although J and R’s Carpet Cleaning are not flood restoration experts, we have experience working with carpets that have flooded and we have been called in by flood restoration experts for help because of our powerful equipment.
Restoring Your Carpets
When your carpets flood, the first thing you should do is find the source of the problem and stop the water wherever it is coming from.
After you have stopped the water, you will need to get a shop vac and towels to try to suck up as much water as you can, and dry as much of the carpet as possible. After this step, you’ll want to get as many fans as you can on the carpet to help the drying process.
Finally, you’ll want to give J and R’s Carpet Cleaning a call. By bringing us in, we will be able to use our powerful vacuum to extract the remaining water out of the carpets. Once we are able to dry the carpets, we will spray a product on your carpet that will kill any bacteria that might be living on them, and eliminate any odor that is lingering on your carpeting. Depending on how bad the saturation of your carpet was, you may still need to rip your carpet up and treat the backing/padding to prevent any mold or mildew damage.
As always, if you’re unsure of what to do or if you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact us today at J and R’s Carpet Cleaning and we will do what we can to help!
