Whenever your carpets get flooded you should:
1. Grab a shop vac, and extract as much moisture as you possibly can.
2. Get as many fans as you can as well to try to get airflow to the spot to speed up drying.
3. You can(but don’t have to)sprinkle cat litter on top of the spot as cat litter is meant to help with odor, and takes in any moisture it touches as its supposed to. Just make sure whatever product is in the cat litter won’t do damage, or stain your carpet.
4. After all of this you will want to give us a call, and have us assess if we need to do a normal extraction method, or our extraction method with the application of a germicide product to rid you of odor, and bacteria.
If the flood was really bad and you feel like it really saturated the padding you may want to pull the corner of the carpet up and try to once again shop vac what you can from underneath, and also put a fan under there to make sure it dries as fast as possible and won’t cause you any mold or mildew conditions. When all is said and done you may need to get someone to come in to refasten your carpet, but this is much cheaper then it would be if you had to replace the padding, or both the padding and carpet.
As always if you have any questions before you start this process just give us a call, and we can point you in the right direction! 877-9055!
